The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House board of directors has elected Peter J. Degnan as the ninth board president since the facility's inception in 1974. Degnan is vice dean of finance and administration at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Rich Probinsky, retired president and chief operating officer of Penn Bottle & Supply Co., has been named a board member. The nonprofit is dedicated to providing temporary housing and supportive services to families while their children receive critical medical care at local hospitals

Johnathan Perkins has been elected to the board of trustees of the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding research, finding cures, and ensuring access to treatments for blood cancer patients. He is an associate in the Philadelphia office of Montgomery McCracken.

Bryant M. Greene, owner/administrator of Always Best Care Senior Services of Philadelphia, Bucks, and Delaware Counties, has been appointed to the board of trustees of the Overbrook School for the Blind.

The Philadelphia Police Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports the Philadelphia Police Department, has elected to its board Thomas E. Wirth, executive vice president and chief financial officer at Brandywine Realty Trust, Radnor; and Brian Harrington, founder and president of Public House Investments, Conshohocken. The foundation works to fund equipment, programs, and training requests needed for the Philadelphia Police Department.

Ardmore Banking Advisors, which provides risk-management consulting services to financial institutions, has named Glenn E. Moyer as a senior adviser to the board. He recently completed his term as secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities.

The Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce has elected Jennifer MacMullen vice chairwoman. MacMullen is vice president/market director for Beneficial Bank.

Joshua W.B. Richards has been appointed to serve as an advisory board member for Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts, a statewide nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. He is a partner and vice chair of the higher-education practice at the Philadelphia law firm Saul Ewing L.L.P.

Peter C. Adamson, a pediatric oncologist and scientist at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and a professor of pediatrics and pharmacology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, has been appointed by President Obama to the National Cancer Advisory Board. Adamson will advise the secretary of health and human services, the director of the National Cancer Institute, and the president on a wide range of issues relating to the national cancer program. - Mike Zebe
