On the Boards

First Hospital Foundation, a Philadelphia group that supports nonprofit organizations whose programs address the health needs of the most vulnerable and underserved populations, elected the following members to its board: Ronnie L. Bloom, partner at Opportunities Exchange; Joan K. King, senior integration consultant for the National Council for Behavioral Health; Estelle B. Richman, former senior adviser to the secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; Wanda Ronner, a physician at Pennsylvania Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania; and Peter A. Thompson, chief investment officer of Coho Partners Ltd.

Roberta Liebenberg, a partner at Fine Kaplan & Black in Philadelphia, has been named chair of DirectWomen, a New York national group that identifies and trains qualified and experienced female lawyers to serve on the boards of public companies. Liebenberg concentrates her practice in the areas of class actions and complex commercial litigation.

     Nancy A. Goldenberg, senior vice president for programs and planning at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society in Philadelphia, was elected to the board of the national urban-park advocacy organization City Parks Alliance.

Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice, Marlton, a nonprofit provider of hospice and palliative care, grief support and counseling, end-of-life education, research and advocacy, named the following executive committee members and chair: Liz Thomas, CEO of Thomas/Boyd Communications, is chair; Michael Bozek, treasurer of Oki Data Americas Inc., is vice chair; Roy Fazio, partner/executive vice president of Protocall Staffing, is secretary; and Jim Wujcik, business banking executive at Sovereign Bank, is treasurer.

Committee chairs include: Roy Fazio, governance; Jim Wujcik, finance; Orsula Knowlton, president of CareKinesis Inc., quality and oversight; Christopher Chekouras, chief operating officer at Virtua Health, strategic plan; and John Gillespie, partner at Parker McCay, development committee.

Women Against Abuse Inc., a nonprofit Philadelphia domestic-violence advocacy organization, has elected Margaret A. Flynn to its board. Flynn is director of investment research at Wescott Financial Advisory Group.

Mount Laurel law firm Parker McCay said shareholder Gene R. Mariano had been elected to the Joseph Fund board of trustees. The fund supports the Ministries of the St. Joseph's Pro-Cathedral.

Elizabeth M. Garcia has been appointed treasurer of the Burlington County Bar Association. She is a shareholder at Parker McCay. Firm associate Breanne M. DeRaps has been appointed a trustee of Burlington County Young Lawyers.

BioNJ, a Trenton organization that fosters biotechnology in New Jersey, named Marc Bonnefoi to its board of trustees. He is head of the North American research and development hub and vice president of disposition, safety, and the animal research scientific core platform at Sanofi.

Joseph D. Mancano, partner in the Philadelphia office of Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti L.L.P., has been elected to the board of trustees of St. Joseph's Preparatory School, a Philadelphia Jesuit high school founded in 1851.

The Citizens Planning Institute, the Philadelphia City Planning Commission's educational and outreach arm, has named the following members to its advisory board:

Malvern Retreat House, owned and operated by Catholic lay leadership since 1912, named Msgr. Ralph Chieffo, pastor of St. Mary Magdalen Parish, Media, as the first member of the clergy to join its board.

Curtis Miyamoto, professor and chair of the department of radiation oncology at Temple University School of Medicine, has been installed as the 152d president of the Philadelphia County Medical Society.

The Radnor Educational Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides funding to the Radnor Township School District, elected Donald P. diCarlo Jr., Steven K. Gerber, and Kristin Van Dusen to its board. diCarlo is senior wealth strategist and the managing director of wealth planning at Wilmington Trust. Gerber is an attorney with Cozen O'Connor and practices in the Philadelphia office's subrogation and recovery department. Van Dusen is a certified professional organizer and partner at Design+Conquer L.L.C.

Cabrini College, Radnor, elected Thomas P. Nerney chair and Frank Emmerich Jr. vice chair of its board of trustees. Nerney is chairman, president, and CEO of USLI (United States Liability Insurance Group) in Wayne. Emmerich is a commercial trial lawyer and serves on the executive committee of Conrad O'Brien P.C. Board members include: Joan M. Buzzallino, retired vice president for human resources for manufacturing and sales at IBM Corp.; Paul Ridder, president of Tasty Baking Co.; William Stemper, president of Comcast Business Services at Comcast Corp.; and Joel Zazyczny, executive vice president of silanes, silicones, and metal organics at Gelest Inc., Morrisville.

Tony Bartolomeo has been elected as a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and will serve as chair of its Industry Leaders Council. He is president and CEO of Pennoni Associates, a Philadelphia engineering, design, and consulting firm.

The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation, a King of Prussia nonprofit organization dedicated to improving child care, elected Lynnie Schleifer president of its board. Schleifer works as a marketing and client-relations consultant for various companies and was owner of the Advantage Group. Candice Cohen, general counsel at Resources for Human Development Inc., Philadelphia, was named a board member.
