KKR & Co. LP, the parent of private equity giant Kohlberg Kravis Roberts said today it plans to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange.

The company's holdings include software company SunGard Data Systems Inc. of Wayne, Pa., retailer Toys 'R' Us Inc., hospital operator HCA Inc., and mattress maker Sealy Corp.

KKR originally sought a U.S. public listing in July 2007 but shelved those plans due to the financial crisis. KKR had assets under management of $52.2 billion at the end of 2009, with half of its funds invested in North America.
