Electric Mobility, a Sewell manufacturer of electric scooters and electric wheelchairs, settled allegations by the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General that it engaged in deceptive marketing.

Allegations included engaging in telephone sales without registering with the state as a telemarketer, failure to clearly explain insurance coverage and payment, failure to provide some customers with a properly dated "notice of cancellation"; and lack of a certificate of authority to conduct business in Pennsylvania.

Electric Mobility paid restitution to all customers who registered complaints that showed apparent violation of consumer protection laws, the attorney general's office said. The company also will pay $15,000 for costs and will provide refurbished power chairs to 10 needy Pennsylvanians.
