American Water declares 2d dividend

American Water Works Co. Inc. announced today that it will pay a quarterly cash dividend - the second in its history - of $0.20 per share.

The Voorhees-based water and wastewater utility company said in a release that the dividend is payable Dec. 1 to all shareholders of record as of Nov. 18.

"We are pleased to declare our second dividend payment since going public this past April," said Don Correll, president and CEO of American Water.

The company paid a 20-cent dividend last month.

Founded in 1886, American Water provides water and wastewater services to 15 million people in 32 states and Ontario.

Company shares, which have ranged in price from $16.47 to $23.65 this year, were trading at $19.09 early this afternoon, up $0.67 (3.64 percent).
