Lockheed wins contract as U.S. military auto-parts supplier

Lockheed Martin Corp.'s Moorestown facility has won a contract worth up to $5.6 billion over 10 years to supply auto parts to the U.S. military, the company said today.

Under the Defense Department contract Lockheed said it will establish a global supply chain for 1,200 parts from 350 suppliers, including small businesses.

The company currently manages logistics and warehousing for all tires used on U.S. military aircraft around the world, supporting tire manufacturer Michelin Aircraft Tire Company L.L.C., Lockheed said in a statement.

Lockheed shares were up $1.30 to $116.40 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
