Insurance company Penn Treaty American Corp. said today that it received a 15-day trading extension from the New York Stock Exchange, while the company completes its 2006 annual report.

Insurance company Penn Treaty American Corp. said today that it received a 15-day trading extension from the New York Stock Exchange, while the company completes its 2006 annual report.

The extension runs until April 2. Penn Treaty, of Allentown, said its filing is contingent on the finalization of its actuarial testing of the financial report for the year ending Dec. 31, 2006. It said it anticipates making the filing in advance of the April 2 deadline.

Penn Treaty reported restated financial results for 2005 and 2006 last month after a long delay. The company's 2006 loss of $27.6 million, or $1.19 per share, included a $16 million increase over its previously reported reserves to pay claims.

Shares were down 39 cents, or about 6.5 percent to $5.56 in midday trading.
