Ametek acquires Minneapolis firm

Ametek Inc., Paoli, whose growth plan includes an agressive acquisition program, today said it bought customized-motor-maker Motion Control Group, of Minneapolis.

Terms of the deal were not announced. Ametek said Motion Control has annual sales of about $26 million.

The acquired company will become becomes part of Ametek's Technical & Industrial Products unit.

Ametek, which makes electronic instruments for a range of industries including health care and aeronautics, had 2007 sales of about $2.1 billion. Shares closed yesterday up 51 cents, to $43.78 on the New York Stock Exchange.
