Ex-Wyeth scientist to head Temple center

Former Wyeth researcher Magid Abou-Gharbia was named to head Temple University's Center for Drug Discovery Research and will join the faculty as professor of medicinal chemistry.

Former Wyeth researcher Magid Abou-Gharbia was named to head Temple University's Center for Drug Discovery Research and will join the faculty as professor of medicinal chemistry.

At Wyeth, Abou-Gharbia was senior vice president of Chemical & Screening Sciences, directing 500 scientists in the United States and 150 scientists in India.

The American Chemical Society named him and his Wyeth team Heroes of Chemistry this year for discoveries that led to an innovative treatment for advanced renal cell carcinoma.
