Former 6ABC reporter Buckman joins IGM as manager of PR, events

Amy Wilen Buckman, a longtime television reporter in Philadelphia, will join Interstate General Media next month as manager of public relations and special events.

Buckman will assume responsibility of all external and internal communication initiatives across IGM's three brands: The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com.

"We're very delighted to add Amy to our growing team of dynamic leaders who share a passion for world-class journalism and strong dedication to this community," said IGM Publisher H.F. "Gerry" Lenfest. "Amy is obviously a magnificent communicator with a proven track record as a television reporter and producer at WPVI. Her versatility as a journalist, a public speaker and strategic thinker make her a perfect fit for this important position at IGM."

Buckman, who spent 25 years at WPVI-TV, will develop and lead strategic communication programs and events that build relationships and educate the public, the media and key opinion leaders about IGM products and content.

Most recently at WPVI, Buckman produced and reported various segments for "Savings with 6ABC," an on-air and online home economics feature identifying money-saving ideas for local residents.

"'I'm beyond thrilled to be joining the team that brings my hometown The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com," said Buckman.  "I believe that the highly respected journalists and the new management team assembled by Mr. Lenfest have both the knowledge and the vision to not only keep these venerable institutions relevant, but also to grow their reach and impact in this digital age."

Buckman received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Northwestern University, where she graduated with honors from the Medill School of Journalism.  She lives with her family in Bala Cynwyd.
