Crozer-Keystone opening drug detox and rehab unit

Crozer-Keystone Health System said Wednesday that it will open a 52-bed inpatient detoxification and drug rehabilitation unit at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, with the first patients expected by the end of this month.

Delaware County Council contributed $940,000 toward the $2 million cost of the First Steps Treatment Center, which is on the second floor of Crozer-Chester's east wing, Crozer said.

First Steps will offer both hospital-levels of care and less-intensive residential treatment, Crozer said. Crozer-Keystone has been treating people with substance-abuse disorders for decades, but this is the system's first inpatient operation.
