The City of Philadelphia's managing director, Richard Negrin, was elected to the board of Legacy Youth Tennis and Education, a youth sports development organization based in the East Falls section of Philadelphia.

Abington Memorial Hospital said Joel I. Sorosky has assumed the role of surgeon-in-chief and chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology. Sorosky specializes in gynecologic oncology. Sorosky has served as chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Hartford Hospital since 2004.

Steven Scott Bradley, Edward H. Morris, and R. Duane Perry have been named to the board of managers of The Philadelphia Foundation, the $370 million community foundation that manages more than 900 component funds to support the region's nonprofit sector. Bradley is the president and CEO of Bradley & Bradley Associates Inc.; Morris was vice president of investments and cash management for Independence Health Group; and Perry founded the Food Trust.

Lawyer Howell K. Rosenberg has been appointed chair of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania after serving two consecutive terms, beginning in 2010. Also in 2010, Rosenberg became a member of the hearing committee. The disciplinary board is an independent agency under the Supreme Court's jurisdiction, consisting of 13 members: eleven attorneys and two nonlawyers. Rosenberg works at Brookman, Rosenberg, Brown & Sandler.

Philadelphia specialty pharmaceutical company Iroko Pharmaceuticals L.L.C. has named Pierre Legault to its board. Legault, CEO of NephroGenex Inc., formerly served as CEO at Prosidion Ltd. and held senior management positions at OSI Pharmaceuticals, Eckerd, Rite Aid Corp., and Sanofi-Aventis.

Penn National Gaming Inc., a publicly owned gaming company, has appointed Jane Scaccetti to its board. Scaccetti's appointment expands the board to eight members, six of whom satisfy the standards for director independence under the current listing rules of the NASDAQ stock market. She also has been nominated to serve as chair of the audit committee. Scaccetti is founding partner and CEO of Drucker & Scaccetti in Philadelphia.

Ed Schutter has been named to the board of Vensun Pharmaceuticals, a privately held generic pharmaceutical company in Yardley. Schutter is president and CEO of Arbor Pharmaceuticals. He had been president and chief operating officer of Sciele (Shionogi) Pharmaceuticals.
