Phila. economy dropping to 8th among U.S. metros

The combined Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington metropolitan area is projected to rank eighth in the nation in economic production for 2013, according to a report by U.S. Conference of Mayors.

The region ranked 7th in 2012, just ahead of San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont, according to the report.

With an estimated gross metropolitan output of $373.9 billion for 2013, the region trails seventh-place San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont ($377.2 billion) and is just ahead of Boston-Cambridge-Quincy, ($346.4 billion).
