Legacy Youth Tennis and Education, a Philadelphia nonprofit organization focused on youth tennis, leadership development, and educational-enrichment programs (formerly known as Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education), elected Shelley R. Smith chairwoman. She is Philadelphia city solicitor.

New board members include: Kamil Ali-Jackson, chief legal officer at Ceptaris Therapeutics, Philadelphia; Brendan F. Boyle, state representative in Philadelphia and Montgomery County; Andrew Eisenstein, founder and managing partner at Iron Stone Strategic Capital Partners, Philadelphia; Andrea Gilbert, president of Bryn Mawr Hospital; Alexander Hamilton, director of business development at Enfocus Software Inc.; Adam Herr, an MBA candidate at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, Philadelphia; Grant Palmer, an attorney at Blank Rome L.L.P., Philadelphia; Nicole Pullen-Ross, managing director at Goldman Sachs, Philadelphia.

William P. Curtis Jr., Clarence Scott, and Judith Strine were elected board members at Elwyn, a Media human-services agency. Curtis is cofounder and principal of Porter & Curtis L.L.C. Scott is a founding member of the Elwyn NC. Strine is a retired interior designer who also serves on Tyler Arboretum's development committee.

American Heart Association elected three new members to its board: JoAnn M. Magnatta, senior vice president, facilities design and construction at Main Line Health; Amy Cohen, senior vice president and general counsel, Comcast Sports Group, and R. Kyle Kramer, vice president, clinical operations, Main Line Health.

Attorney Thomas N. Sweeney of Messa & Associates P.C. has been appointed to the board of governors for the Pennsylvania Association for Justice.

St. Joseph's Preparatory School named the following members to its board of trustees for 2012-13: Daniel R.J. Ballard Spahr litigation associate Marcel S. Pratt was named to the board of EducationWorks, a nonprofit organization that provides educational support for economically disadvantaged communities in the Philadelphia area.

Theodore Simon, an attorney in private practice in Philadelphia, was named first vice president of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Jeffrey S. Moller, a partner and Product Liability, Mass Torts, Insurance Practice Group Leader at Blank Rome L.L.P., was appointed to the Navigation Safety Advisory Council as a member representing the viewpoint of the Maritime Law Association.
