Kyler Photo of the Day

This is the body copy

The fine folks at Gulla's Auto Tag and Insurance (6301 Buist Ave.) were so distraught to read about the plight of 5-year-old neuroblastoma patient Kyler VanNocker, they placed a jar at the register to collect donations for his family.

They decorated the container with this front page, from the Daily News, to which they added a visceral caption letting everyone know how they feel about the unfairness of Kyler's situation.

By yesterday, store owners Delores and Anthony Gulla had collected about $400; they chucked in another $100 of their own and wrote up a $500 money order for the family, which I'll be thrilled to forward to Kyler's parents, Paul and Maria.

"We could've collected more, but we wanted to get the money to them before Christmas, so they can buy things for their kids," Delores told me. "Right now, if people say, 'What else do they need?' I tell them, 'Prayers.'"

Amen to that, Delores. Amen to that.
