The latest official snow total at Philadelphia International Airport came in at 26.7 inches, beating the Dec. 19-20 storm by better than 3 inches and making it the second-biggest Philadelphia snow in the period of record.
To have two such mega-storms in one season is unprecedented. The new seasonal snow total, 54.3 inches, vaults it to No. 4 on the all-time Philadelphia list, within about an inch of the No. 2 spot, held precariously by 1898-9.
Those of you who haven't finished shoveling the driveway or walkway might not want to read the next sentence. Another major snowstorm is possible midweek.
In the meantime, this one is winding down in the Philly metro area, although some light snow continues.
"Another major snowstorm is possible midweek." Don't get my hopes up. I can't remember the last time I saw snow falling on top of old snow. (Not counting old leftover piles) SteveMG
CSX has just parked a 10,000 horsepower turbo jet next to Mawkward playground which is spewing huge amounts of toxic exhaust all over the park, fitler square, gray's ferry, graduate hospital - and with this wind, probably all the way to south jersey. Way to go CSX. miso
