Watch: Philly native Patti LaBelle shuts down stripping fan at Vancouver show

After an onstage confrontation over the weekend, a couple of things about Philadelphia native Patti LaBelle are clear: The Godmother of Soul is “not Nicki Minaj or that little Miley,” and, as such, you are not welcome to strip during her performances.

After an onstage confrontation over the weekend, a couple of things about Philadelphia native Patti LaBelle are clear: The Godmother of Soul is "not Nicki Minaj or that little Miley," and, as such, you are not welcome to strip during her performances.

One Vancouver fan found that out the hard way on Friday at her show at the Hard Rock Casino after the singer invited fans to join her onstage for a dance. That male fan, unfortunately, had a more euphemistic understanding of the act.

"Don't you dare. Not on my stage," LaBelle told the fan as he began unbuttoning his shirt. "I am 71 years young and I am not Nicki Minaj or that little Miley."

The unnamed fan, of course, didn't listen to LaBelle's caution, which prompted a security call from the soul veteran.

"Get off my goddarn stage, b----," LaBelle insisted as the man was removed from the performance area. "And stay off. Put him out of the building. Put him out! How dare you?"

Being the professional she is, though, LaBelle simply carried on with her show after apologizing for her reaction to her highly excited fan.

"I'm so sorry," she said later. "I'm a Gemini and things come out of my mouth sometimes that I try to control. Don't ever come in my face again."

Tonight, LaBelle plays the Washington State Fair in Puyallup, Washington. So, please, Washingtonians, keep the stripping to a minimum.
