VIDEO: Son surprises his mom, a diehard Seahawks fan, with Super Bowl tickets

Mike Harris grew up a diehard Seattle Seahawks fan. Maybe that was because he inherited his fandom from his mother, who wanted to send the Seahawks off to the AFC Championship game back in 1983, but couldn't because she was pregnant with Mike and was due in three weeks.

Mike Harris grew up a diehard Seattle Seahawks fan. Maybe that was because he inherited his fandom from his mother, who wanted to send the Seahawks off to the AFC Championship game back in 1983, but couldn't because she was pregnant with Mike and was due in three weeks.

Mrs. Harris has been a season ticket-holder for years, now. She was at the NFC Championship game when Seattle beat the Panthers to advance to the Super Bowl in 2006. But, the family couldn't afford to attend the big game that year.

Flash forward to 2014 and the Seahawks are set to take on the Broncos in the first Super Bowl in MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands. Tickets were incredibly expensive and the cross-country travel made the possibility of attending unrealistic for Mike and his mom.

But, cold weather and the eastward travel difficulties/expenses had demand for trips to the game dipping in recent days. Mike saw an affordable deal for a hotel and flights on Delta, and snagged a few tickets for $1,000 less than they had been listed at just a few days before.

He invited his mother over when the FedEx package was set to be delivered. He signed for the package and handed it to his mother.

As I was purchasing flights with my fiancé [sic] Sarah, my best friend's wife Jessica walked in and we started scheming to get Jesse (my best friend from Kindergarten to today) in on the action. Moments later he walked in and we hit him with the idea, and he loved it. Thanks to a random headline I saw out of the corner of my eye after giving up hope, myself, essentially my mom's second son since I was five years old who she rarely gets to see anymore, and most importantly mom herself are heading to see the Seahawks play in the Super Bowl. Mom was there for the send-off of the Seahawks in person, with no clue of what was coming. She came to my house to see me and my dogs, and the FedEx guy arrived and I signed for the package. I opened it, and handed it over to her. Thirty years after she skipped their welcome home for my sake, I was able to return the favor in the biggest way I could ever think of. I'm excited to go see the game, but there was nothing more meaningful than to see my mom's reaction that I've shared in the video.

Try not to cry. [h/t BuzzFeed]
