VIDEO: Guy reunites with man who stopped him from committing suicide

In 2008, a man named Johnny Benjamin was struggling to cope with the fact that he'd been diagnosed with a schizoaffective disorder. He stood on London's Waterloo Bridge and prepared to jump to his death on the River Thames.

In 2008, a man named Johnny Benjamin was struggling to cope with the fact that he'd been diagnosed with a schizoaffective disorder. He stood on London's Waterloo Bridge and prepared to jump to his death on the River Thames.

But, a stranger passing by asked him to reconsider.

Mr Benjamin told the Metro newspaper that the man very calmly said: "Please don't do this, I've been where you are and you can get better. Let's have a coffee and we can talk about this."

"He reminded me of what people do every day so the normality of it was really inviting," Mr. Benjamin recalled. [Independent]

Six years later, Benjamin was finally in a place where he felt comfortable reaching out to the world to ask for help in tracking down the man that prevented him from committing suicide. With the help of the Rethink Mental Illness charity, Benjamin launched the "Find Mike" campaign.

Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, daytime talk shows. Benjamin and company pulled out all the stops in an effort to find "Mike," who happened to catch one of Benjamin's television appearances.

The guy's actual name was Neil Laybourn, a 31-year-old Surrey man.

Though a full documentary on Johnny Benajmin's story and the process of dealing with mental health issues is forthcoming, a clip of Benjamin's reunion with the man who saved his life has hit the Internet and it's probably going to make you bawl your eyes out.

"I was so pleased to see how well Jonny was doing, I had thought about him over the years and had always hoped he was ok, he said."

"When we met, it was clear how much that encounter on the bridge meant to Jonny, he told me it was a pivotal moment in his life – which was great to hear.

"I didn't feel it was that big a deal, I did what anyone would do. I wasn't trying to fix his problems that day, I just listened. [Rethink]
