South Park, Jon Stewart mock Redskins

Think the Philadelphia Eagles gave the Washington Redskins a tough time Sunday?

South Park and The Daily Show apparently have plans to rough up the NFL franchise over America's most battered sports nickname.

"Go Fund Yourself" is the title of South Park's season premiere, Wednesday night at 10 on Comedy Central. When the gang uses a Kickstarter campaign to form a corporation and name it the Washington Redskins, owner Daniel Snyder's cartoon version is outraged.

"Don't you see when you call your organization the Washington Redskins, it's offensive to us?" Snyder's cartoon version blusters.

"It was out of deep appreciation for your team and your people," is one of Cartman's comebacks.

Meanwhile, some real-life Washington fans are upset at Jon Stewart and The Daily Show, also on Comedy Central, for how a showdown went down with some Native Americans, according to the Washington Post:

This goes way beyond mocking. Poking fun is one thing, but that's not what happened," said Kelli O'Dell, 56, a former teacher who lives in Alexandria and doesn't watch the show regularly. "It was disingenuous. The Native Americans accused me of things that were so wrong. I felt in danger. I didn't consent to that. I am going to be defamed."

Businessman Brian Dorch said he was lied to about whether the four Washington fans would have to face any protesters, but even the Native Americans acknowledged, in the Post's words, "they marched into the room and accused the fans of backing a racist mascot."

The scene was taped on Sept. 13 but has yet to air. New episodes are expected tonight through Thursday night at 11 on Comedy Central.
