Rapper Joey Bada$$ blames media for anti-Cosby brainwashing

He didn't quite defend Bill Cosby. He didn't quite bash him, either. But the media and the so-called "Internet Kids" that follow media oh so meticulously got a nice thrashing in the latest Twitter rant by 20-year-old Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$. The rapper cautioned against media "propaganda" set up against Bill Cosby.

Joey, real name Jo-Vaughn Scott, let it be known that he wasn't feeling all the "Bill Cosby slander." The rapper made an accompanying 259-second Snapchat story that basically said the exact same thing he tweeted.

Many of Joey's followers disagreed with him, with some pointing him to Cosby's recently uncovered tangible admissions of giving drugs to women for sex.

While he didn't directly defend Cosby, he did repeatedly call him an honorable black man and pointed to his status in the black community as one reason the media is covering his downfall so adamantly.

"Maybe they're trying to give white America more of a reason to hate black people," Joey said in the black-and-white Snapchat story. "Maybe they don't want the kids of tomorrow to know how great of a man Bill Cosby was," he continued to suggest. "Or maybe Bill Cosby is just a rapist."

On July 6, a judge ordered the unsealing of court documents from a 2005 civil suit against Cosby in which he admitted to buying Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to women he was going to have sex with. Following the documents' unsealing, fellow comedian Whoopi Goldberg defended Cosby, saying Cosby "has not been proven a rapist." Days later, she abandoned that defense. On Saturday, the New York Times revealed it had gained access to court documents in which Cosby admitted to paying women after sexual encounters, among other things.
