Miley Cyrus releases new single, maybe isn't twerking

If you haven't heard about Miley Cyrus' performance at Sunday's VMAs, then allow me to welcome you to the Internet. Happy Monday.

If you haven't heard about Miley Cyrus' performance at Sunday's VMAs, then allow me to welcome you to the Internet. Happy Monday.

The former Disney star lit up social media networks the world over by twerking all over the stage at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, even shaking her thang when Robin Thicke was doing his best Beetlejuice impression while performing his song of the summer, "Blurred Lines". Miley's performance was so, um, astonishing that MTV was able to capture America's reaction with one audience shot featuring Will Smith and his family.

Seemingly in conjunction with her trending performance at the VMAs, Miley released the latest single off of her forthcoming album Bangerz. Yeah, that's really the name of the album. She's named the single "Wrecking Ball" so you're going to have to do your best not to confuse it with that Springsteen album from last year. Good luck differentiating between the two. (Miley's single also came with the Spring Breakers-esque album art for Bangerz.)

The song is a bit slower and it's about heartbreak, so there's the slight possibility that, somewhere in America, Miley Cyrus has temporarily stopped twerking. There's also speculation that it's about Liam Hemsworth. So, do with that what you will.
