Jimmy Fallon cheats on his ‘Chris Christie joke diet’ with help from The Roots
With a new report detailing some $300,000 in food and drink expenses by Chris Christie during his time as New Jersey Governor, there hardly has been a more inopportune time for Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon to be on a “Chris Christie joke diet.”
With a new report detailing some $300,000 in food and drink expenses by Chris Christie during his time as New Jersey Governor, there hardly has been a more inopportune time for Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon to be on a "Chris Christie joke diet."
Luckily, though, The Roots were there Monday night to lend a helping hand.
"I know it seems like the perfect story for a Chris Christie joke," Fallon said on Monday's show. "But I'm actually on a diet — a Chris Christie joke diet, so nothing for me, thanks."
So, naturally, The Roots' Black Thought chimed in with this zinger:
"When Wegmans employees ask Chris Christie if he wants paper or plastic, he says, 'Mouth.' "
After that, several other Roots members joined the fun, which ultimately made Fallon cheat on his strict Christie joke diet.
"Christie spent $82,000 at a concession stand at MetLife Stadium," Fallon said. "Then he turned to his friends and said, 'Do you guys want anything?' "
