E! is giving more rich 20-somethings a reality show because, duh

H.L. Mencken once said that democracy is the theory that the common people what they want and deserve to get it good and hard. Welp, this is America, so brace yourselves for yet another reality television show putting rich people on a pedestal and reinforcing the notion that, if you have money, it's okay to be a thankless, self-absorbed, coddled, over-privileged societal leech.

E! put a new series in development that will be based on the group of posh celebuteens who rose to Internet stardom thanks to the Rich Kids of Instagram Tumblr. If you're not familiar, it basically reads like a Where Are They Now blog about kids who were on My Super Sweet 16 back in 2007. Yippee.

I've learned that E! has put in development Rich Kids Of Beverly Hills, a new unscripted series that revolves around a group of 20-something friends living in a world of extreme wealth who caught notice on Instagram. On the proposed series, produced by ITV Studios America in association with Leepson Bounds Entertainment, the offspring of the most elite families and billionaire moguls party, play and support each other against a backdrop of wealth.

Tune in to Clueless Beverly Hills, 90210 Laguna Beach The Hills Rich Kids of Beverly Hills to watch spoiled kids argue about who's Ferrari is cooler between bouts of yelling at the help for not serving the caviar quickly enough. Ugh. It'll probably crush everything in the ratings. Meanwhile, basically no one has even heard of Rectify. WHY IS NO ONE WATCHING RECTIFY?! [Deadline]
