Duke fans chant about NC State player's dead grandma?

Ugh. Hope you're sitting down for this one because it's not pretty.

Ugh. Hope you're sitting down for this one because it's not pretty. On Thursday night, the Duke Blue Devils topped the NC State Wolfpack 98-85. No one is talking about the score today, though, because the focus is on the Cameron Crazies because it sounds like the student section chanted "HOW'S YOUR GRANDMA?" when NC State's Tyler Lewis went to the line in the second half. Lewis' grandmother passed away last week.

The Duke student newspaper is denying the reports. The New York Post has more:

The only problem is that the "how's your grandma?" chant was heard pretty clearly not just on the video, but by fans in the stands, including Lewis' own father.

"It was mostly 'Past your bedtime,' but there was an instant when a brief number of students chanted about Tyler's grandmother," Tyler's father, Rick, said on Friday. "It wasn't the entire student section, I think a few tried to outdo themselves." [NY Post]
