Corey Feldman says botched performance for State College Spikes was a ‘setup’

Corey Feldman's July gig for the minor league State College Spikes was somewhat of a disaster, and now the '80s heartthrob says the performance was nothing more than a "setup" for publicity.

"That was a bunch of BS right there," Feldman told TMZ this week. "It wasn't about the performance. It was a set up — that whole thing was a setup."

In late July, Feldman's band played a post-game celebration in State College for the Spikes, which apparently was so horrible that the team felt the need to issue an apology afterward. Feldman later called that apology "defamatory and untrue."

After the botched gig, Feldman's band reportedly lost its spot to perform at the Special Olympics last month. An unfair consequence, considering, as he says, that his group delivered on their side of the agreement.

"We had a contract, and in the contract it stated that I was supposed to do a performance," Feldman told TMZ. "Somebody up there who was the manager for the Spikes never read the actual contract apparently."

Spikes General Manager Scott Walker later clarified that "we are not apologizing for the content of Feldman's performance," but rather Feldman's apparent failure to "meet with fans, appear on the field, and sign autographs" at the game.

"The whole thing was kind of embarrassing," Feldman now says of the incident. "But we're professionals."
