Bill Cosby a punchline in Andy Samberg Emmys opener

Bill Cosby has remained the topic of conversation after his highly controversial year caused by more than four-dozen sexual assault allegations against him. Emmys host Andy Samberg kept the tradition going during his opening monologue, making the embattled comedian the butt of his first few jokes.

Bill Cosby has remained the topic of conversation after more than four dozen women have leveled sexual assault allegations against him. Emmys host Andy Samberg kept the tradition going during his opening monologue, making the embattled comedian the butt of his first few jokes.

During his intro, Samberg prepared to acknowledge the Emmys hosts that came before him, saying, "I have to say I'm so honored to join the proud ranks of past Emmy hosts, incredible legendary people," he began. As he continued, the lineup got a bit more questionable, including "Robert Blake and Bill Cosby?" he said questioningly. "Oh no, I gotta get out of here."

The "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star even threw out some Philly terminology as he skewered Cosby, saying, "Between Bill Cosby, Jared Fogle and Robert Durst for stealing that sandwich, not a good year for dudes who love hoagies."

Beyond Cosby, Samberg took a dig at Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis, made famous for refusing to issue gay marriage licenses, and, of course, Republican presidential candidate favorite, Donald Trump.

"Sure Donald Trump seems racist," Samberg began, as if he would offer some sort of redeeming hope for the presidential candidate, before saying, "…What else?"

Cosby hosted three Emmy Awards shows in 1966, 1969 and again in 1970. Seven years later, actor Robert Blake hosted the awards show in 1977, decades before he was charged and acquitted in the murder of his second wife, Bonnie Lee Bakley.

Cosby has not been charged in any of the cases of alleged sexual assault and through his representatives has denied any wrongdoing.
