Report: Beyoncé lip-synced the National Anthem at President Obama's inauguration

POSTED: Tuesday, January 22, 2013, 12:14 PM

Page Six is reporting that a rep for the United States Marine Band has confirmed that Beyoncé lip-synched the National Anthem at President Obama's inauguration on Monday.

“All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day,” Kristin DuBois, a rep for the band tells Page Six. “We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given. We don’t know what the reason why.”

The confirmation comes just hours after the Washingtonian published a piece posing the question in response to a picture that Queen Bey posted of herself and members of the Marine Corps Band in a recording studio.

So what? Obama has been faking being a real president for 4 years now....seems appropriate she would fake it actually.

Hey Prof, I choked on my beer when I read your response. I just finished re-reading Animal Farm (for the third time since high school) this morning. Great post. Perfect timing.

Well, lets see. She lip synced her own rendition? Did you watch it? it was incredible! If she lip synced it, it was the best lip-sync i've ever seen, especially considering the music started first and somebody was miraculously successful in starting the recording right on the beat.

Probably does the same on her tour. If you see a performer with a mic attached to their head and they're leading a crew of choreographed dancers, you can bet on 'em lip-synching.

Yeh. I remember hearing it and commenting to self how "tight" that whole arrangement was with her standing quite a distance from the band and still hitting some of the very critical syncopations dead on. Still a moving rendition of a difficult song to make sound lively.

    Very observant!
Then again National Anthems don't exist as vehicles for "entertainment".
They're supposed to be sung by the crowd - the sports fans, the audience at a gathering or a bunch of school kids.
There's a kind of mini thrill at an Eagles game when the fans spontaneously break into "Fly Eagles, Fly" - it actually sounds good.
Imagine if they let that same crowd sing the National Anthem accompanied by a school or local marching band (like they used to)
When The Superdome reopened after Katrina a band from LSU (I think) played the National Anthem and both teams along with all the fans sang their hearts out that day - not a dry eye in the place.
