Good luck keeping your breakfast down, folks, because this latest bit of television news is probably going to make you sick. Ben Stiller is set to revive his cult classic Reality Bites as a situational comedy for NBC because Hollywood is tired and has no shame.

Stiller with executive produce and the original screenwriter, Helen Childress, will pen the pilot script, but that doesn't make any of this OK.

The small screen rendition will be closely based on the movie and revolve around recent college grad Lelaina Pierce as she struggles to make her way romantically and professionally in the recession-plagued, pre-Internet early 1990s in Houston, where she shares an apartment with slacker friends.

The original pic starred Winona Ryder, Stiller, Ethan Hawke and Janeane Garofalo. "Bites" marked Stiller's first notable success as a helmer, and it has endured as a touchstone pic for the Gen-X demo. The soundtrack yielded a hit single, "Stay," for Lisa Loeb.

Ugh. It'll probably have a laugh track. Expect NBC to use this as a vehicle to capitalize on the Internet's obsession with '90s nostalgia. [Variety]
