Weekend event picks: Home Show, Royal Rumble & more

Get your last taste of "Chocolate: The Exhibition" at the Academy of Natural Sciences (1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway) before it closes on Saturday, Jan. 24. Tracing the delicacy from its ancient beginnings to modern-day deliciousness, the exhibit is open to view all weekend from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22 and Friday, Jan. 23 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

There's nothing quite like a bargain. Shops in Downtown Haddonfield (along Kings Highway in Haddonfield) will be holding its annual sidewalk sale — indoors and outdoors — from Thursday, Jan. 22 through Sunday, Jan. 25. Get your shop on from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The Philadelphia Home Show returns to the Pennsylvania Convention Center (1101 Arch St.) for the second weekend, featuring vendors and exhibitors giving tips and selling products to help you transform your home and garden. Expect talks from celebs "The Fabulous Beekman Boys" from the Cooking Channel, Jeff Devlin of DIY's "I Hate My Bath" and HGTV's "Spice Up My Kitchen," and more. Get renovation-inspired from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 24, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25.

Start your engines. The PPB Motorsports Race Car and Trade Show revs into the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center (100 Station Ave., Oaks) from Friday, Jan. 23 to Sunday, Jan. 25 with chances to check out cars, talk with racers, seminars, antique car displays, exhibitors and more. The show runs from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Take on the weekend with a beer in your hand at Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest's (101 S. Columbus Blvd.) first annual brewfest. Throughout the weekend, a selection of local breweries like Sly Fox and Weyerbacher will be handing out samples from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, Yuengling and Twin Lakes from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, and Evil Genius and Cape May Brewing to follow from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Hauser Estate Winery and Dock Street from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25. In addition to the sips, there'll also be brewer talks and quizzo on Friday, live music and a homebrew demo on Sunday.

"Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver brings his saucy political jabs to the Tower Theater (19 S. 69th St., Upper Darby) for an 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. standup performance on Friday, Jan. 23.

If you managed to score free tickets to Radio 104.5's Winter Jam over the past few weeks, get ready for the party on Saturday, Jan. 24. Doors open at 10 a.m. for the rain-snow-or-shine event at Xfinity Live! (3601 S. Broad St.) featuring performances from The Gaslight Anthem, Cold War Kids, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Walk the Moon and stellar locals We Speak in Sounds, CRUISR and Cheerleader.

Unique vintage, antique and handmade buys galore wait for eager shoppers — like you, duh — at this weekend's Clover Market, held indoors at the 23rd St. Armory (22 S. 23rd St.) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday, Jan. 24 and Sunday, Jan. 25. Over 60 local and national vendors will bring their utility, cutesy and beautiful items for the annual event.

We get that a bicycle is used as a mode of transportation, but the PA Performing Arts for Young Audiences presents a show from Toronto performer Evalyn Parry that explores its significance as a muse, musical instrument and impetus for social change. Utilizing guitar, electronics and everyday items (water bottles, bicycles) to create music, Parry crafts songs and poetry in "Spin" at the Painted Bride Art Center (230 Vine St.) for four performances: 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24 and noon and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25.

Brian Sanders' dance-theater company JUNK will transform the Trocadero Theatre (1003 Arch St.) into a whiteout winter location for their "The Fifth Element"-inspired snowball. Awards will be given out for the most intergalactic/futuristic "The Fifth Element"-themed attire, raffles, open bar, a performance by JUNK featuring singer-songwriter Nicole Atkins. Doors to the fundraiser open at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24.

Returning to Philly for the first time in over 10 years is WWE's Royal Rumble, a 30-man elimination match featuring superstars like Dolph Ziggler, Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, the Big Show and more. It all goes down at the Wells Fargo Center (3601 S. Broad St.) at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25.
