#PhillyFive Things to Do: Oct. 18, 2014

Look what I caught just passing through.

Look what I caught just passing through.

For community art: In case you missed it, Shake Shack (20th and Sansom) is getting a Mural Arts creation on the wall above the establishment and the public is invited to get their hands dirty. From 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. add your own strokes to the mural from artist David Guinn.

For shopping: The all-new Venice Island Performing Arts and Recreation Center (1 Rector St.) will host over 50 vendors selling their handmade goods, furniture, jewelry and art from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the Philly Mart.

For a signing: Author Thom Nickels will read from and sign his new book "Legendary Locals of Center City Philadelphia" at 4 p.m. at Il Tartufo (4341 Main St.) in Manayunk. Who are these "legends"? A few include Grace Kelly, Nicole Cashman, A.D. Amorosi, HughE Dillon, Richardson Dilworth and John Wanamake.

For a celebration: Cheers to 10 years! And 20! And 75! Those are the major milestones Philadelphia's Magic Gardens (1020 South St.) are celebrating at this benefit: 10 years as a nonprofit, 20 years since the first tiles were laid and founding artist Isaiah Zagar's 75th birthday. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., enjoy refreshments from 12th St. Catering, Brulee Catering, Spodee and Dad's hat Whiskey, listen to jams from A Fistful of Sugar and see exclusive work from Zagar.

For dancing: Grab your mask and get ready to dance. From 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., cut a rug at World Café Live (3025 Walnut St.) to raise funds for The Clay Studio at The Mudball, a masquerade and dance-a-thon.
