Gay To Do: Pink Pub Crawl, HRC Gala & more

Your top gay calendar picks for this week.

"Pride" Film Screening

Philly Socialists will be screening the 2014 film Pride, a comedic drama based on a true story, at the William Way Community Center (1315 Spruce St.) on Thursday, March 19. The film follows a group of queer communist activists and their unlikely alliance with striking miners during the 1980s. There will be a raffle to raise funds for The Attic Youth Center, where flooding from a burst water pipe caused severe damage to their kitchen.

Screening begins at 6:30pm.

Nymph: A NSFW Dance Party

Unleash your inner radical fairy this Friday, March 20 at Medusa Lounge (27 S. 21st St.) for Nymph. Spring has yet to fully fall upon us. But there will be plenty of reasons to live out your sprite fantasies on the dance floor with cute boys and girls galore. While DJ Sharyn Stone spins, flirt and flounce about to your heart's content.

No cover. Doors at 10:00pm.

HRC Gala

Hundreds will get glammed up and gather at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downton Hotel (201 N. 17th St.) on Saturday, March 21 to celebrate and raise funds for the Human Rights Campaign. Shut Up & Dance

MANNA'S highly anticipated one night-only benefit Shut Up and Dance is back Saturday, March 21 at the Forrest Theatre (1114 Walnut St.). The idea for the performance came when dancers of the Pennsylvania Ballet began losing loved ones to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the early 90s. Since then, dancers each year choreograph and perform original pieces for a night of entertainment, inspiration and creativity.

Performance begins at 8:00pm with a VIP preview party beginning at 6:00pm. For tickets.

Pink Pub Crawl

The Pink Pub Crawl returns for another installment Saturday, March 21. The crawl begins 9:00pm at Stir (1705 Chancellor St.), and then winds its way to Boxers PHL (1330 Walnut St.). For their next stop, crawl attendees will then be able to choose any bar (U Bar, Tavern, or Venture) on Camac Street to revel at. The fun night concludes at Voyeur Nightclub (1221 St. James St.) where all the booze consumed gets sweat out on the dance floor.

Crawl begins at 9:00pm. $20 for those wearing pink. $30 for everyone else.
