Free family fun days and more for Father's Day

On Saturday, June 14, celebrate Father's Day early, family-style, at the Tinicum Township Community Day. Bring out the family for a fun-filled day of games, art displays and live music at Governor Printz Park in Essington, PA. The Sea Dogs Pirate Band will perform so stop by between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

If Dad loves baseball, but a Phillies game is not in the cards this weekend, then take him to Chasing the Dreams Family Fun Day at The National Museum of American Jewish History at Independence Mall. The family-friendly day will include outdoor games, crafts and other activities related to their current exhibit, "Chasing Dreams: Baseball & Becoming American." Activities will be going on from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 15.

Spend the afternoon on an adventure with Dad at the Daring Dad Scavenger Hunt at Norristown Farm Park in East Norristown. Celebrate Father's Day with a nature scavenger hunt on Sunday, June 15 at 1 p.m. Of course, families are allowed to pitch in as well.

For music lovers, take Dad to the Free Father's Day Family Concert In The Park featuring the Janis Nowlan Band. The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs to about 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 at West Brandywine Township Park in Chester County.

Free fishing fun can also be had on Father's Day at the Wissahickon Environmental Center in Wissahickon Valley Park. Don't worry if you don't have fishing poles, both poles and bait will be provided. Admission is free, but registration is required. Click here to register. Make sure you get there by 8 a.m.

Give back this Father's Day by participating with your dad in the Gary Papa Father's Day Run which raises money for prostate cancer. The run is named after 6ABC's former Sports Director Gary Papa, who lost his cancer battle in 2009. There will be a pre-race workout, as well as guest appearances, entertainment and more. Everything kicks off at 7 a.m. at Eakins Oval at the Philadelphia Art Museum.

At Penn's Landing Great Plaza this weekend the PECO Summer Festival Series will be celebrating the Islamic Heritage Festival on Saturday, June 14 and a Portuguese Heritage Festival on Sunday, June 15. The Islamic Heritage Festival will take place between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday and will include a Unity in Diversity Parade and a global open market bazaar as well as games and entertainment.

At the Philadelphia Portuguese Heritage Festival, there will be a selection of traditional foods and wine along with folklore dance groups and international music to enjoy. Don't miss the traditional blessing of the Tall Ship Gazela. Come for the fun between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
