Five things to do today – lion cubs, scavenger hunt, figure drawing

I think a celebration is in order.

I think a celebration is in order.

For a family expansion: The lions at the Big Cat Falls exhibit at the Philadelphia Zoo (3400 W. Girard Ave.) have just welcomed two new members to the club: four new lion cubs. See them (and everything else at the zoo) during their hours today, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For a farmers market add on: During the Bala Cynwyd Farmers Market (held at the GSB Building at 1 Belmont Ave.), The Food Spot, a pop-up entertainment site, will provide music from 92.5 XTU, food trucks: Dapper Dog, Ka'Chi Truck and Vernalicious, performers from the Philly Circus School, free face painting and more from noon to 3 p.m.

For explorers: A scavenger hunt taking teams to historical sites in Old City kicks off tonight at Stratus Rooftop Bar and Lounge (433 Chestnut St.) at  6:30 p.m. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with a celebratory after party to follow the hunt at 9:30 p.m.

For an art project: Hone your figure drawing skills at this monthly workshop at the Queen Village Art Center (514 Bainbridge St.). Leave the gear at home, all supplies will be provided. The three-hour class begins at 6:30 p.m.

For a preview: The Arden Theater (40 N. 2nd St.) kicks off their fall season with the first preview performance of "La Bete," a comedy set in 17th century France where a street performer joins a local acting troupe — and a crisis within the group ensues. Curtains are at 8 p.m.
