Five things to do today – comedy, sports apparel sale, shrimp broil

Shopping, toy cars, food — today is full of the best that life can offer.

Shopping, toy cars, food — today is full of the best that life can offer.

For a blowout sale: Need another foam finger to add to the collection? How about a new Flyers jersey? Score discounts of up to 90% off at the Wells Fargo Center's Summer Blowout Sale, featuring Phillies, Flyers and 76ers apparel from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For a road race: Kids can bring their favorite Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars to race on the Mercer Museum's toy car race track from noon until 3 p.m. in Doylestown, Pa.

For a shrimp broil: Chefs Justin Swain from Rex 1516 and Carolynn Angle from Standard Tap will be manning the kitchen for a low country shrimp broil benefit at Greensgrow Community Kitchen in Fishtown. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. enjoy the shrimp, wash it down with some beer from Philadelphia Brewing Company and kick up your heels at the Zydeco dance party.

For some laughs: Jim Gaffigan brings his standup act to Atlantic City's Borgata for two shows tonight, 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Don't come hungry — the comic had previously and unknowingly predicted a future Dunkin Donuts menu item and frequently discusses American eating habits.

For a garden show: The second in Longwood Gardens' fireworks and fountains show is tonight at 9:15 p.m. in Kennett Square, Pa. Watch as the garden's fountains shoot in synchronization with the light show in the sky set to music.
