First look: Fishtown's Revolutions bowling alley

Revolutions bowling and entertainment complex, at 1009 Canal St., had its soft opening on Sept. 16.

Flair is coming to Fishtown when Revolutions (1009 Canal Street), a new bowling alley and entertainment complex, opens its bar, Flair Street tonight.

Since Revolutions’ soft opening last Friday, General manager Joe Dziemianzuk said they’ve attracted concert-goers and comedy fans from The Fillmore next door and Punch Line comedy club.

Revolutions features 26 bowling lanes, a Burger & Beer Joint and the newest Revolutions addition, a flair bar (think Tom Cruise in Cocktail). Dziemianzuk hopes Revolutions’ new flagship location becomes a social club for Fishtown residents, like other Revolutions locations in West Palm Beach, Syracuse and Bethlehem.

“The fact that we kept it very industrial makes it absolutely fit in here,” he said.

“We’re not trying to set new trends,” he added, “we’re trying to complement the trends that are already going on in the Fishtown and Northern Liberties area.”

Once visitors step inside the converted factory, they’ll have the option to grab a specialty cocktail at Flair Street or head upstairs to the burger joint before putting on their bowling shoes. Dziemianzuk recommends the Love Potion No. 9, a color-changing cocktail complete with a chocolate-covered strawberry, or the Stairway to Heaven wagyu beef burger.

Revolutions will host live bands every Friday night and DJs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Dziemianzuk said the live music will complement whatever is going on at The Fillmore that night, but will revolve around classic and alternative rock.

When it’s time to bowl, Dziemianzuk said visitors shouldn’t expect a traditional bowling experience. Regular bowlers have the option to log in to their Revolutions bowling history, add emojis to their scorecards and choose different themes for the scoring on an interactive screen.
