Philadelphia Union midfielders Freddy Adu and Amobi Okugo called to U.S. Olympic qualifying team

PORTLAND, Ore. - Philadelphia Union midfielders Freddy Adu and Amobi Okugo have made the final cut for the United States men's Olympic qualifying tournament team.

Adu and Okugo will head straight to Nashville, where the U.S. will play its group games, after Monday's season-opener against the Portland Timbers. They will miss the next three Union games: March 18 against Colorado, March 24 against Chicago and March 31 against Vancouver.

Lancaster, Pa., native and Montréal Impact defender Zarek Valentin also made the roster.

If the U.S. reaches the knockout stage, coach Caleb Porter's team will head to LIVESTRONG Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas. As with the U.S. women's tournament a few months ago, the semifinal winners will qualify for the Olympics in London.
