Courtesy of the Union, here is video of Everton's press conference at PPL Park on Tuesday. It features manager David Moyes, defender and team captain Phil Neville, and midfielder Mikel Arteta.
It does not feature Tim Howard, and you have probably heard by now that he will not be at PPL Park for tonight's game. You have probably also heard by now that the Union are not very happy about this.
I think I agree with both sides to some degree. There's nothing wrong with allowing Howard to have a rest during the summer, but the Union have put a lot of resources into marketing this game as a chance for fans to see a real hero for many American soccer fans. So on that count, I agree with Union CEO Nick Sakiewicz.
But if, as Everton's front office claims, the Union were told some time ago that Howard wouldn't be here, then it's the Union's fault for screwing up the communication process.
I will be at PPL Park tonight, and I'll be hosting a live chat during the game. So we'll have plenty of time to talk about this, and whatever else is on your mind.
(Surely someone will ask me a Phillies question. It would only be fair given the number of soccer questions I get during my Phillies chats.)
