WWE Raw results (06/23/14): Eight observations from this week's episode

Monday marked episode 1,100 of Monday Night Raw and it was celebrated by having an angle involving Vickie Guerrero and Stephanie McMahon.

Okay, that wasn't quite how it went it down, but that angle did indeed happen — among other things.

Before we delve into the happenings from the show, let's go through the full match results:

With that out of the way, let's get into the nitty-gritty of what took place on the final edition of Raw before Money in the Bank at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.:

Vickie Guerrero has been fired

Monday marked what looked like the legitimate end of Vickie Guerrero's run with the WWE. Although rumors of her departure came before WrestleMania, it looked like it became official Monday night.

Her sendoff was pretty eventful. The night began with Stephanie McMahon berating Guerrero for allowing Roman Reigns to get into the ladder match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank.

McMahon said that she was prepared to fire Guerrero on the spot, but then made her beg for her job. After dropping to her knees and begging, Guerrero was then granted a chance to keep her job as general manager of Smackdown (She's still general manager? I honestly had no idea). All she would have to do was defeat McMahon in a match.

Guerrero then channeled her late husband Eddie Guerrero and told McMahon that she had learned how to lie, cheat and steal from him before he passed away. She then belted out her patented, "Excuse me!" and left with the crowd actually chanting her name. Who would have thought after all of those years of booing her, the fans would be chanting her name?

I must say the WWE had me at this point. I figured Guerrero and McMahon would have some sort of match — probably not a pretty one — where the drama would be built for Guerrero. The crowd would get behind her for a little bit, only for her to fall just short. We didn't get that all. Instead, what we got was more toilet humor. Most of it was stupid, but a slither was kind of good.

Guerrero came out to Eddie Guerrero's theme music all decked out in ring gear. It was awesome hearing his music again. But McMahon came out in her dress and high heels. She then revealed that their match would take place near a pool full of what looked like caramel, but was supposed to be vomit or something nasty. The first one to be tossed into the pool would be the loser. McMahon then sent Alicia Fox, Layla and Rosa Mendes (Where has she been?) to drag Guerrero into the nastiness. Guerrero somehow evaded the three divas and managed to send all three of them into the pool, including Layla who face-planted in it.

But Guerrero got a little too excited and was unceremoniously dumped into the pool by McMahon, ending her career. McMahon gloated and bragged until she realized Guerrero was in prime position to push her into the pool, which was a pretty funny moment. Guerrero eventually got a hold McMahon and tossed her into the mess, embarrassing her for the second straight week.

I have a couple of feelings about this. Firstly, it was cool seeing McMahon get tossed into the pool. It's good to see the heel authority figure look like an idiot sometimes. It's necessary to keep things balanced. It happened to Vince McMahon all the time and it looks like his daughter is taking the mantle as the comedic fool in the family. It was also a nice way to send off Guerrero, who somehow carved out a nine-year run with the WWE after the death of her Hall-of-Fame husband.

Despite those good feelings, it still felt kind of sophomoric to have this play out with a pool full of whatever. A traditional match wouldn't have been pretty, but it would have provided a little more opportunity to create the right kind of drama. There wasn't a whole lot of drama created with this match, if that's what you want to call it. It was more humorous than anything. But I guess that's how Guerrero would have wanted to go out. If that's the case, I don't have an issue with it. She worked hard to earn a spot in the business she was essentially a stranger to and became a fixture within the company.

Money in the Bank contract match is set

As usual, there will be two Money in the Bank ladder matches at the annual event this coming Sunday. While one will be for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, the other will be for the traditional Money in the Bank contract. Triple H announced that Seth Rollins, Kofi Kingston, Jack Swagger, Bad News Barrett, Dolph Ziggler and Rob Van Dam would participate in the match. One notable name was missing at this point and that was Dean Ambrose.

During the Rollins-Van Dam match, Ambrose ran in to beat on Rollins some more, causing a disqualification. After Rollins scurried away, Ambrose said that he didn't need to be officially added to the match because he was going to show up to Boston and take the briefcase anyway.

Rollins then pleaded with Triple H to put Ambrose in the match so that he could keep an eye on him during the match. In Rollins' eyes, Ambrose was going to have get involved anyway and it would be better if he was just in the match, instead of coming out of nowhere when he was at the top of the ladder. Triple H saw his point and granted him his wish.

Of those seven guys in the match, I'd have to say the favorites are Rollins, Ambrose and Barrett. From the looks of it, Rollins and Ambrose are going to be too busy fighting each other and may cancel each other out, leaving Barrett as my current favorite.

Bad News Barrett, Dolph Ziggler have a great match

Barrett did something hilarious before this match, but the match itself was great. There were a lot of sensible false finishes and the fans in D.C. were very much into it.

The finish was cool as well with Barrett hitting the bull hammer out of mid-air.

Kane destroys everyone, is added to WWE World Heavyweight title match

The Money in the Bank match had yet another person added to it. That person was Kane after he beat the crap out of everyone involved in the main event.

This was essentially the only thing the WWE could do with Kane, as his story with Daniel Bryan was put on the backburner due to Bryan's injury. Bryan's injury essentially left Kane in no-man's land until now. He now has a purpose, which will be to lose the title match Sunday.

Luke Harper, Erick Rowan have their own theme music

The two big men no longer come out to The Wyatt's Family's normal theme music. The two bearded giants now have their own. On Monday, they came out to "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" being played on what sounded like a harmonica.

It sounded kind of annoying, but it fit the characters, so I don't hate it.

Big E loves America and church

I've been waiting for quite some time to hear Big E get some microphone time. He's a pretty humorous guy on social media, so I figured there could be ways to have that translate onto WWE television. Monday night was not the night we found out.

After making quick work of Damien Sandow/Abraham Lincoln, Big E cut a promo about Rusev and Lana, who toured Washington, D.C. earlier in the day and put down the United States.

The promo he cut, however, sounded like an over-the-top Baptist preacher talking to his congregation. He sounded like Arsenio Hall from Coming to America. I was actually happy when Rusev beat him up from behind.

I don't know where that promo came from, but it needs to go back to wherever it came from and stay there forever.

By the way, what sense does it make to have a guy beat up Abraham Lincoln and then talk about how much he loves America?

Cameron is well on her way to being heel

Cameron doesn't like anyone anymore. She hates Paige for beating her twice. She even hates her partner Naomi despite dancing alongside her to the ring. That part didn't make a whole lot of sense, but Cameron being a heel does, in my opinion.

She's not all that likeable on Total Divas and think her being a heel is just a natural role. It's a role I think she could play very well.

Daniel Bryan to appear at Money in the Bank

The uncrowned WWE World Heavyweight Champion will appear on the Money in the Bank pre-show where he is expected to give an update on his condition and his thoughts on the situation surrounding the WWE World Heavyweight title.
