NXT television report (04/27/16): KINSHASA!!!

Wednesday marked the final round of television NXT filmed in Dallas during WrestleMania weekend, which means there wasn't a whole lot of storyline development.

In fact, the biggest development in NXT since that particular weekend didn't even happen in Dallas. It happened in Lowell, Mass. last week when Samoa Joe defeated Finn Balor for the NXT championship at a live event.

Footage of that match aired during the show Wednesday night, but since the taping took place almost a month ago, we did not see any real ramifications play out on the show.

We did get a little bit of storyline development in the women's division with Asuka, Eva Marie and Nia Jax. After Asuka defeated Marie, she engaged in a stare down of sorts with Jax. Jax opted not to make anything of it and helped Marie out of the ring. From the looks of things, we are headed to a future NXT Women's championship match between Asuka and Jax.

But let's not overlook Marie, who had I think her best match to date against Asuka in a losing effort. I know that's not saying much and she still has a way's to go before she can be taken seriously in the ring, but you can definitely see the improvement.

Some may say that Asuka is carrying her to good matches, but that is the point. One way a wrestler can get better is by working with wrestlers that are more experienced and quite frankly, better than they are.

Marie working with wrestlers that are above her skill level is exactly what she should be doing at this point and it is one sure way she can improve.

The other bit of storyline development was The Revival putting the entire NXT tag team division on notice that they were not happy about losing the NXT Tag Team titles at NXT Takeover: Dallas and that none of the other teams were safe from their wrath.

The Revival began dishing out punishment after the very next match when they attacked the Hype Bros after their win over Blake and Murphy.

By the way, the Revival picked up a win over enhancement talents Matt Lee and Jeff Parker, better known as 3.0 on the independent circuit. Although it was a squash match, Parker and Lee made the most of their short time in the ring by being pretty entertaining.

Because of their antics, they were pretty over with the fans in Dallas. Because of that, I believe NXT could use them more often as the loveable losers of the brand. They could be NXT's version of the Mulkey Brothers.

The main event featured a match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Elias Samson. It is always cool and still sort of surreal to see Nakamura on NXT/WWE television, but this match wasn't really anything to write home about.

However, I expect better things to come for Nakamura once NXT does its next round of television tapings at Full Sail in Orlando.

Here are the full match results:

- Asuka def. Eva Marie

- The Revival def. Matt Lee & Jeff Parker

- Hype Bros def. Blake & Murphy

- Carmella def. Aliyah

- Shinsuke Nakamura def. Elias Samson
