Larry Zbyszko to inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

The Living Legend and Pittsburgh native Larry Zbyszko will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the night before WrestleMania 31 in San Jose, Calif., the WWE announced on its web site Monday.

WWE Hall of Famer, fellow Pittsburgh native and mentor Bruno Sammartino will induct Zbyszko during the ceremony, which is fitting being as though Zbyszko came into national prominence during his heated rivalry with Sammartino that culminated in the two headlining a WWE event a Shea Stadium in 1980.

After the rivalry came to a climax, Zbyszko left the WWE to work for the American Wrestling Association and Jim Crockett Promotions, where his success continued, as he eventually won the AWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1989.

After the AWA closed its doors in 1990, Zbyszko joined World Championship Wrestling where he won the World Television Championship and was one half of the World Tag Team Champions with Arn Anderson.
