Finn Balor relinquishes WWE Universal championship due to injury

Not even 24 hours after becoming the first-ever WWE Universal champion, Finn Balor was forced to relinquish the title on Raw Monday night due to a shoulder injury.

Balor suffered the injury Sunday night at SummerSlam during his match against Seth Rollins to determine the first Universal champion. The injury occurred when Rollins drove Balor into the barricade outside of the ring with a running power bomb.

"He hit the wall during the match, dislocated his shoulder and was able to put it back in himself in a split second," WWE physician Dr. Chris Robinson told WWE.com.

According to Robinson, Balor underwent an MRI Monday and it revealed a "possible labrum tear."

It was announced during Raw that the injury will keep Balor out of action for at least six months.

It is currently unknown if the injury will require surgery.
