Bone appetit: White Dog Cafe opens in Haverford

Owner Marty Grims spent more than six months giving his Du Jour Market a new leash on life.

University City's White Dog Cafe, which branched out to Wayne in 2010, on May 15 adds a third spot, in Haverford Square (379 Lancaster Ave., 610-896-4556).

Owner Marty Grims spent more than six months giving his Du Jour Market a new leash on life. It's now a stylish restaurant that sprawls over three different settings - a bar and two dining rooms. Balongue Design again did the work.

It is open for dinner only May 15, 16 and 17, and on May 18 will segue to weekday lunch/weekend brunch/nightly dinner.

All locations are managed by executive chef Zach Grainda and executive general manager Tamas Szene, while chef Mike Selser leads the kitchen in Haverford. Menu pricing for lunch and brunch is $12 to $18, and dinner entrees $22 to $39.

This White Dog's menu is similar to other locations, though Haverford's has more expanded first courses and vegetable offerings.

Next up: Grims plans a renovation aboard the Moshulu, berthed at Penn's Landing, and will reconceptualize the former Peppercorn/Georges' space in Eagle Village Shoppes in Wayne.
