Verdad in Bryn Mawr to close for makeover

Partners Nick Farina and Howard Taylor plan to knock down the walls between the bar and the dining room to open up the space, thereby increasing capacity from 90 to 100.

Summertime means makeovers.

Le Castagne in Rittenhouse is planning to shut down sometime next week for a reboot that will take about a month.

And after six years in Bryn Mawr, the Euro/Latin Verdad (818 W. Lancaster Ave.) will close after dinner Sunday, July 5 for a refresh due to be completed Friday, July 17.

Partners Nick Farina and Howard Taylor plan to knock down the walls between the bar and the dining room to open up the space, thereby increasing capacity from 90 to 100. As new banquettes are constructed, the color palette will change from yellow/copper to burgundy, and the carpet will be replaced with oak hardwood floors. The second-floor dining room will pick up the same look and feel.

Beer taps will go from two to four (with a focus on locals) and tequila flights will become a priority.

The menu also will change from tapas/tacos/large plates to a combination of small plates with a few larger platters meant to be shared (including paellas that feed up to six people), as well as daily specials based on availability from local farmer's markets. Menu is here.

The taco menu will remain.
