Valet stands come to East Passyunk

POSTED: Friday, September 7, 2012, 1:20 PM

The East Passyunk Avenue parking issues may be eased by a new valet stand set up by Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corp.

It's outside the fountain at Tasker and East Passyunk, adding to the stand in the 1900 block of EPA, in front of Le Virtu and Tre Scalini.

Another stand, on the 1600 block of EPA, starts in two weeks.

It's offered Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Validated parking is $8; non-validated is $15. Cars are parked in Neumann-Goretti's parking lot.

Participating restaurants are Paradiso, Mama Maria's, Stateside, Birra, Izumi, Fond, Le Virtu, Tre Scalini, and Da Vinci.

Or, you know, people could just park there by themselves since the lot is always open.

I think this is a great program for the area..parking IS a problem down here. Not only will this attract more visitors ($8 for valet in Philadelphia is unheard of) but it should make Passyunk more appealing for new restaurants to open in the area now that this issue has been addressed.

I think it's awesome that Passyunk is becoming a hot spot for restaurants especially since gordon ramsay came to Passyunk last year. But I'm pretty sure valet has been around for quite a while down there.
