This dinner party will be magical

Card tricks between courses.

You've heard of the magic of dining.

Chef Alex Garfinkel - whose Balboa Supper Club restaurant pop-ups are a real treat - will collaborate on an intimate dinner for 10 people at his Kensington studio on Oct. 23 with his friend Adam Elbaum, who has been a magician specializing in sleight of hand for 25 years.

Elbaum will do card magic between courses.

Magic? Turns out, Elbaum is a semiregular at Garfinkel's dinners, and is known to bust out his tricks at the end of the evening. The two decided to base a dinner on the magic.

It's $95 for four courses (along with amuse bouche, bread service, and comp drink pairing, though the evening is BYOB). There is a vegetarian option available for the entree.

Details are here.

Here's a backgrounder on Balboa.
