Taqueria Feliz opens in Horsham

Out with pizza, in with Mexican fare.

Pizza is out and guacamole is in, as chef Tim Spinner and Brian Sirhal have revamped their short-time Pizzeria Felici in Horsham's Elements shopping center into a second Taqueria Feliz (303 Horsham Rd., 215-323-4530).

It opened Jan. 27 after a quickie shutdown. They're now using the wood-fired oven for making tortillas, nachos, enchiladas, fundidos, tlayudas (Mexican style pizzas), brought in 50-plus tequilas to supplement the 10 draft beer lines, bottled and canned beer, and had artist Alison Dilworth create a Day of the Dead mural.

Executive chef Michael Brenfleck's menu is actually larger than that at the first Taqueria Feliz, in Manayunk. (These taquerias are cousins of Cantina Feliz in Fort Washington and La Calaca Feliz in Fairmount.)

It includes crab and lentil enchiladas, shrimp and chorizo fajitas, tempura battered fish tacos, and carnitas tacos. All dishes are priced under $20.

It's open weekdays for lunch and daily for dinner from 4 p.m.; happy hour runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
