T&S Bake Shoppe to replace Kermit's on Washington Ave.

By fall, they hope to open T&S's front for retail in the burgeoning residential neighborhood.

Right after Jennifer Santore and Danielle Ogunkoya met in 2009 as incoming students at the Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College, "we always had it in our hearts to open our own place together," Santore said.

Santore, who turned 30 on April 27, and Ogunkoya, 29, are doing just that - opening T&S Bake Shoppe, their own pastry bakery, at 2204 Washington Ave. in South Philadelphia, in what was Kermit's Bake Shoppe. Their partners are Steven Savitz and Traci Paul of SRS Group.

At the start, next week, the women will bake their cookies, cakes, cupcakes, croissants, and cheesecakes only for wholesale distributors. By fall, they hope to open T&S's front for retail in the burgeoning residential neighborhood.

Both women have followed each other professionally since their 2012 graduation, working at such restaurants as Table 31 and Square 1682.

T&S is named for their grandmothers - Jennifer's Theresa and Danielle's Sylvia - who taught them to bake.

Josh Weiss of MSC Retail and Jonathan Dubrow of Coldwell Banker handled the real estate transaction.
