Starr bringing Fatty Crab to Philly

He is partnering with the hip Asian concept.

Stephen Starr - who imported Brooklyn BBQ king Fette Sau to Philly - is bringing in another out-of-towner.

He told me that our town will get a branch of Fatty Crab, the hip Malaysian-inspired bistro.

Crain's New York Business broke the news that Starr is working with Fatty Crew - parent company of Fatty Crab and its Fatty 'Cue sibling - in its bid to go national.

Crain's says Starr is committed to help open Fatty Crab restaurants in eight cities in the U.S. and one in London. There are two New York locations, one in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and one in Hong Kong.

Starr's people will run the new locations.

The first Starr-run Fatty Crab is teed up for Washington, D.C., in about three to six months, the Crain piece said. No location was named.

No location or timeline are set for the Philly project.
