No third PHS pop-up beer garden this year

The beer garden at Three Logan Square is officially dead this year.

Back in late April, you may recall, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society announced three pop-up beer gardens in the city this season.

But though the pop-ups at 1438 South St. and at Ninth and Wharton Streets are now open, a rep for PHS confirmed last week that the third was off the drawing board.

It was supposed to be set up in the courtyard of Three Logan Square, at 18th and Cherry Streets.

PHS had described the pop-up's vibe as "Philly beach meets Hamptons." Sargenti Architects was to install a beach and terraced landscape around the existing fountain. City Tap House, across 18th Street, was to run a tented bar serving food.

It appears that PHS jumped the gun in announcing it, but it's not clear what scuttled the plan. PHS would not elaborate. "We will try to plan for next year" was all Brian Harrington of City Tap House would say.

A rep from Brandywine Realty Trust, which operates Three Logan Square, did not return a message seeking comment.
